Radio Free Berlin School

Privacy

Last updated 31 October 2026.

Radio Free Berlin School is an independent project about the Berlin School of electronic music. This page explains what happens to your data when you visit the site. Questions go to [email protected].

In short

The site sets no cookies of its own, and has no sign-ins, forms, comments or newsletter. It keeps no personal data about you. The music players load from YouTube or Bandcamp only when you press play.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare sees your IP address, your browser and the page you ask for, so that it can deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device and doesn’t fingerprint your browser. What we see are totals: page views and visits by page, country, referring site, browser, operating system and type of device. We never see individual visitors or IP addresses.

The listening examples

The story’s listening examples play music from YouTube and, in one case, Bandcamp. Nothing loads from either until you press play. When you do, the player loads from that service, which then receives your IP address and browser details, and may set cookies or store data under its own policy: Google’s privacy policy for YouTube, and Bandcamp’s.

Other sites

Links to other sites, such as our DJ sets on Mixcloud, Wikimedia Commons, or albums on Bandcamp and YouTube, send nothing until you click them. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Why, and where

The hosting and the statistics rest on our legitimate interest in running the site and seeing which parts of it readers use. The players load because you asked for them by pressing play. Cloudflare, Google and Bandcamp process data in the United States and elsewhere, under the safeguards described in their policies.

How long

We keep only the visit totals described above. Each service keeps its own data for as long as its policy says.

Your rights

You can ask what data is held about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. As this project holds no personal data of its own, such requests mostly go to the services above, through their policies. In the European Union you can also complain to your national data protection authority.
